Futuroscope (Vienne department, near Poitiers), was the 1st theme park created́ in France in 1987.
It welcomes nearly 2 million visitors every year and offers over 40 attractions and shows.
Since July 2024, the offering has been enhanced with a second indoor water park l'Aquascope, as well as a themed hotel park and entertainment venue l'Arena-Futuroscope.
Immersion thanks to innovative technologies and untold stories are at the heart of the Futuroscope Xperiences leisure offer, which is now positioned as a European-level resort. At the end of 2020, Compagnie des Alpes, the Département de la Vienne, Banque des Territoires and Futuroscope signed a new shareholders' agreement for a €300 million investment plan between now and 2030 (2/3 of which before 2025).
This plan has resulted in the construction of numerous attractions, including Objectif Mars (the park's 1st roller coaster) and Chasseurs de Tornades (voted best attraction 2022 by the prestigious Themed Entertainment Association -TEA), as well as an expansion plan with a themed hotel zone and a water park at the gateway to the original theme park.
In 2022, the Station Cosmos hotel opened, imagined as a real space base, with its experiential Space Loop restaurant, the first roller-coaster restaurant in France.
In 2023, the Ecolodgee hotel took its place at the gates of the theme park, with its 120 wooden lodges set in a haven of peace in the heart of nature.
More than 50% of visitors now stay for two days or more, and tour operator Futuroscope Destination markets a nearby hotel park with 1,850 rooms in 11 partner hotels.
Futuroscope has been able to leverage its technical and technological expertise through its subsidiary Futuroscope Maintenance et Développement, which offers engineering consulting, studies, deployment and maintenance of high-tech attractions, also as a service provider. Its projects include the 4D projection room for Attention Menhir! at Parc Astérix.
Certified ISO 50001 for its energy performance management since 2019, Futuroscope is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2025. To achieve this, we are committed to an environmental and energy policy that focuses on energy, waste management and reduction, preservation of water resources, biodiversity and soft mobility.
Here are just a few examples of the measures we have taken to reduce our carbon footprint:
- since 2020, the park has purchased 100% of its electricity from renewable sources
- bleacher benches for the night-time show were made by recycling 7,000 TETRA PAK food bricks
- devices for converting urine into agricultural inputs (fertilizer) have been installed in collaboration with Toopi Organics, a process that saves over 2,000 m3 of water each year.
- by 2025, 600 electric recharging points are planned for the Park's parking lots, giving visitors access to simple, environmentally-friendly recharging solutions.
