Retrofitting 4X4 vehicles to electric drive
In 2021, the CDA's subsidiaries in La Plagne (Société d'Aménagement de la Plagne - SAP) and Les Arcs (Les Arcs Domaines Skiables - ADS) initiated a project to retrofit their 4x4 pick-ups to electric power, in the absence of any existing solution on the new market.
The first 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles, developed by RETROFLEET, are in the final homologation phase and are due to go into series production and be offered to all local players in the coming months.
TO GO FURTHER
Pick-up 4x4 vehicles are widely used in the CDA's ski areas, particularly for maintenance and travel in mountain environments.
With RETROFLEET, and thanks to funding from the Banque des Territoires' Accélérateur d'Impact, ADS and SAP have contributed to the emergence of a prototype vehicle that is currently undergoing road homologation. It will thus be the 1st road vehicle of this type retrofitted with electric power to be approved in France.
It will be presented at the Rencontres Internationales des Véhicules Ecologiques in early July 2023.
The retrofit kit, which will be produced and installed in Savoie, is intended to be mass-produced and offered from the end of 2023 to local professionals who use the same type of vehicle. With the contribution of the ski areas, the retrofit kit has been sized as closely as possible to the uses to which it will be put, in order to limit the environmental impact of its manufacture.
With this initiative, the CDA is contributing to the emergence of a solution for the region that meets a need that has not yet been satisfied, and that also addresses low-carbon issues, the circular economy and the revitalization of the region in which it is based.
