ISO 50 001 certification of Parc Astérix

Located in the heart of the Oise Regional Park, and in close collaboration with the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels de Picardie, the park is carrying out numerous actions to reduce its waste production and to preserve or restore the natural areas surrounding it. Certified ISO 9001 in 2014, Parc Astérix also obtained ISO 50 001 "Energy Management" certification in September 2018 for its commitment to energy performance.

What is ISO 50 001 ?
ISO 50 001 is, in a way, the reference manual for companies wishing to commit to greater energy efficiency, with the aim of making savings and limiting greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions linked to energy combustion. Like all ISO standards, it is not mandatory and is therefore a voluntary process. ISO 50 001 certification rewards companies that have implemented an energy performance approach. It requires the definition of a reference situation, a strategy, objectives, an action plan and the monitoring of indicators to measure the results of actions.

A major challenge for the park
In 2017, the Park set out to obtain ISO 50 001 certification. Initially, the park had to carry out an energy audit to identify the most energy-intensive premises, equipment and uses. From this starting point, the park was able to launch a whole series of quick and easy-to-implement actions based on raising team awareness and optimising certain processes (optimising the opening of attractions, training teams, replacing lighting, etc.). The park is ISO 50 001 certified in 2018. To go further, the park has carried out an energy audit which has led to the development of a 10-year investment plan with one priority: the insulation of buildings.

A mobilisation of all the teams
The road to certification has mobilised all of the park's teams, both at the decision-making level through the financial impact of the planned investments, and at the operational level through the identification of possible optimisations and the training of teams in changing their practices.
